As a young kid I visited other states like Texas and Colorado. I saw a lot of lowriders cruising the streets and hitting switches. I knew right then that I would have a lowrider someday even though I had never seen a lowrider in Minnesota. In 1980, still a teenager who had a dream of having a car club with the baddest lowriders in it, I bought my 1st lowrider. It was a 1977 Monte Carlo. It would be the first of many cars. My cars always were known as "El Padrino". I had it engraved on my window along with the pachuco man. Although I was happy, my dream was not complete. The big change came in 1983 when I went from "El Padrino" to "Los Padrinos" Car Club. Today, I have a 1964 Chevy Impala SS and my dream has become a reality.
Los Padrinos CC was founded in 1983 by Pete Salas. The club name is trademarked and registered. We also have a lowrider bike club. The English meaning of Los Padrinos is "The Godfather". We host many shows. Our car club contributes to youth programs, food shelves, raises funds for charities and is very involved in the community. All members vary in age and in ethnic backgrounds. We are a family orientated car club and involve our youth as much as possible. This club takes no dues.
